NUPOR evidence

John I have to play the "evidence and appreciable literature" card on this one. Is there any evidence to suggest a computer can do certain parts of NUPOR better than humans? How about outcomes? While there is certainly promise for automating many of these straightforward review tasks, we need someone to step forward and pioneer the concepts.

Evidence is needed

Card well played. My response is that Pharmacy must do the research. Do we want medicine, nursing or MBA dweebs (with emphasis on the second qualifier) doing it?

Self-mutilation

What pharmacy organization is going to participate in a study to get rid of pharmacists? Maybe vendors?

Why assume the study will get rid of pharmacists?

Do we really want our hospital pharmacists chained to a computer reviewing all of the Tylenol orders? We have been telling pharmacy students for years now that they will be a full member of the clinical team but for many that membership is limited to sitting at a screen all day.
My two cents :)
