An iPad should be mandatory in medical school?

First, I am not a Apple iPad fan boy (yet).  That said, I am getting
infatuated with the device.

At least two medical schools are requiring iPads for incoming students
(Stanford and UCI).  To my knowledge and a Google search has revealed
that no pharmacy school requires an iPad (yet).

Now this interesting post by KevinMD, a noted physician blogger, with
this editorial with lots of comments.  The comments are the best part, btw.

Mandatory iPad

While I believe the iPad, or any tablet computer for that matter, could be beneficial in medical or pharmacy school, I don't think it's ready to be mandatory. When a tablet can effectively replace pen, paper and computer then it can be mandatory. We're getting closer, but we're not quite there yet.
